Mission Statement
The mission of the Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) is to advance the oral and systemic health of the people of the state of Indiana and globally through excellence in teaching and learning, research and creative activities, patient care, civic engagement and service.
Combined Degree Programs
- DDS/PhD in Dental Sciences
A 7-year dual degree program designed for students pursuing leadership roles in dental research and academia.
- DDS/MPH
A dual degree in public health offered in partnership with the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health.
- DDS/MBA
A dual degree combining dentistry with business education from the IU Kelley School of Business.
- Bachelor's/DDS Pathway to Dentistry
An innovative 4+4 route offering motivated undergraduates at IU Indianapolis a conditional pathway into the School of Dentistry.
International Student Programs

Research Themes:
Clinical Experiences
The DDS program is four years (173.5 credit hours) and features early clinical exposure, starting with Professional School Transitions and Introduction to Patient Care in the first year.
Clinical Rotations:
- Community Based Dental Education (CBDE) - Immersive rotations for fourth-year students at Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to address workforce needs in shortage areas.
- Pre-doctoral Pediatric Dentistry Clinic rotation - A specialized clinical rotation focused on dental care for children.
- IU School of Dentistry Student Outreach Clinic - A student-run free clinic providing dental services to underserved adults on the Near East Side of Indianapolis.
- Amish Community Dental Clinic - Monthly trips to rural northern Indiana to provide dental services to children in Amish communities.
- SEAL Indiana - A mobile dental program using portable equipment to provide preventive care for underserved urban and rural children.
