Mission Statement
The mission of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences is to advance transformative education, science-based intervention and lifelong learning grounded in high calibre research and exceptional clinical training. Our programs foster access to integrated care, community service and engagement. We bridge fundamental, applied and translational research to dental practice using creative knowledge transfer.
Combined Degree Programs
- Clinician-Scientist Pathway (MSc-DMD)
Students complete a 2-year Master of Science (Thesis) before entering the 4-year DMD program.
- Joint MDCM/OMFS Program
A joint program offered through the Faculties of Medicine and Dental Medicine leading to an MDCM degree and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certification.
International Student Programs
Other Paths:
- DMD Advanced Standing for Foreign Trained Dentists - A 3-year program starting in the second year of the DMD curriculum for graduates of non-accredited international dental programs. Requires Quebec residency or Canadian citizenship/PR status.

Research Themes:
Clinical Experiences
The 'Fundamentals of Medicine and Dentistry' (FMD) curriculum integrates MD and DMD students for the first 16-18 months. This is followed by intensive pre-clinical training and two years of clinical training in the Undergraduate Teaching Clinic and affiliated hospitals.
Clinical Rotations:
- Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery - Rotation at the Montreal General Hospital.
- Pediatric Dentistry - Rotation at the Montreal Children's Hospital.
- Jim Lund Dental Clinic - Community clinical experience at the Welcome Hall Mission.
- Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit - Specialized rotation at the Montreal General Hospital focusing on pain management.
