Mission Statement
The mission of the School of Dentistry is to provide excellence in oral health education, patient care, research, and community service.
Combined Degree Programs
- DMD/PhD
A seven-year dual-degree track offered through the PORT (Portland Oral Health Research Training) program to prepare clinician-scientists.
- Certificate/MD
A six-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery that awards both a specialty certificate and an M.D. from the OHSU School of Medicine.

Research Themes:
Clinical Experiences
The four-year DMD curriculum introduces patient care in the fall of the first year (prevention course), followed by technique development in Year 2 and intensive clinical practice in Years 3 and 4.
Clinical Rotations:
- DS4 Community Clinical Rotations - Fourth-year students complete community-based rotations focused on dental public health and serving diverse populations.
- OMFS Rotations - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents complete mandatory rotations in general surgery and anesthesiology.
