Combined Degree Programs
- BS/DDS
Dual admission/dual degree program with St. Bonaventure University; 3 years at SBU and 4 years at UB.
- MS/DDS
Unique 5-year track available to prospective students on the active DDS waitlist with an interest in research.
- DDS/MBA
Dual degree program offered in conjunction with the UB School of Management.
- DDS/PhD in Oral Biology
Combined degree for students interested in basic or clinical research careers in academia or industry.
- Dual Enrollment
Simultaneous enrollment in a clinical specialty certificate program and an MS or PhD in Oral Biology or Oral Sciences.
International Student Programs
Other Paths:
- International Dentist Program (IDP) - A 2-year advanced standing program beginning with an 11-week intensive summer preparatory course followed by D3 and D4 years.

Research Themes:
Clinical Experiences
UB uses a comprehensive care model involving practice groups. Students begin clinical exposure in D2 with rotations and assisting; D3 students spend 3 days per week in clinic, while D4 students spend 5 days per week.
Clinical Rotations:
- Specialty Rotations - Includes pediatrics, urgent care, and oral surgery rotations starting in the third year.
- Hospital Externships - Continued rotations through local hospital dental clinics to broaden clinical experience and participate in rounds.
- Remote Area Medical (RAM) - Clinical service trips providing care in remote or underserved areas.
- Practice Groups - D3 and D4 students are divided into practice groups that function like a large group practice to provide comprehensive patient care.
