Mission Statement
The mission of the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry is to foster an environment of lifelong learning, collaborative teaching, service, and research through partnerships within the University of Mississippi Medical Center and with community organizations and dental health practitioners throughout the State of Mississippi. The School of Dentistry is committed to acquiring and retaining a multi-faceted community of students, residents, fellows, faculty, and staff, which exemplifies qualities of leadership and dedication in preparing competent, ethical dental health professionals for the state of Mississippi and who work to improve health outcomes and eliminate health disparities.
International Student Programs
Other Paths:
- OMS Clinical Observership - A one-week rotation in OMS ambulatory clinics available to international candidates with a DMD or DDS equivalent; limited to shadowing and observing.
- Dental Hygiene Online Advanced Standing - Specifically for licensed dental hygienists to earn a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene; not a dentistry degree path.

Clinical Experiences
UMMC utilizes an integrated curriculum with both horizontal (across disciplines in the same year) and vertical (flowing between pre-clinical and clinical years) integration. Clinical practice begins in the third year.
