Combined Degree Programs
- DDS/PhD
Offered in Oral and Craniofacial Biomedicine or Oral Epidemiology for students interested in academic and research careers.
- DDS/MBA
Offered in partnership with the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School to develop leadership and business management skills.
International Student Programs
Other Paths:
- Advanced Standing Program for International Dentists (ASPID) - A 29-month program starting with a six-month intensive preclinical track leading to integration into the third-year predoctoral DDS class.

Clinical Experiences
The school utilizes the ACT (Advancing Clinical Training) curriculum, which features six-week learning blocks. D1 and D2 focus on biomedical sciences and hand skills, while D3 and D4 emphasize comprehensive patient care and rotations.
Clinical Rotations:
- Adams Rural Oral Health and Wellness Scholars (AROWS) Program - Includes a semester-long clinical experience at MAHEC Dental Health Centers in Asheville and Columbus, NC.
- Community Clinic Rotations - Students participate in clinical rotations at various community-based sites throughout North Carolina.
- UNC Hospitals Rotations - Experience in hospital-based dentistry including special care dentistry and oral medicine.
